This semester, LIHSA 3D Animation students worked with Elliot Cowan, an animation and fine artist with extensive industry experience in design, illustration, and animation. He’s best is known for his work with Cartoon Saloon and has contributed to Oscar-nominated features. His unique perspective and expertise made him a perfect guest artist that LIHSA students.

Originally from Australia, Cowan transitioned from design work to animation, working on a variety of projects, including collaborations with renowned artist Wayne White. One of Cowan’s standout achievements is his involvement in high-profile projects, including Oscar-nominated films, and his exhibitions showcasing his personal artwork.

At LIHSA, Cowan created an assignment for 3D students that challenged them to animate abstract shapes to music. He described his students as highly engaged and motivated, noting that their energy fuels his own creative process. The dynamic piece they created was shared at the Winter Student Showcase.
