Meet Sarah Schwartz: A Behind-the-Scenes Force in Performing Arts

Sarah Schwartz is LIHSA’s stage manager, bringing her skills to make students comfortable on stage and everything flow smoothly back stage.

Sarah is a recent graduate of Hofstra University’s Lawrence Herbert School of Communication, with a major in  film studies and production and a minor in drama. Her expertise in sound design, theater, and film has shaped her dynamic career. She’s continuing her studies at the Redhouse Arts Center in Syracuse.

Behind the Scenes: Stage Management at LIHSA
At LIHSA, Sarah serves as a production stage manager, overseeing the backstage operations of productions such as Family Album, Urinetown, and Winter Fest. Her role includes managing logistics, ensuring safety, and coordinating with technical teams. Whether it’s managing props, setting sound cues, or running the fly system, Sarah ensures every performance runs smoothly and efficiently. Her role allows the creative team to focus on their work while she handles the crucial details backstage.

Creating Safe, Collaborative Spaces
Sarah is committed to creating a supportive environment for all involved in a production. As someone who has often felt hesitant to speak up in traditional settings, she is sensitive to the needs of others and strives to make sure everyone in her space feels heard, safe, and comfortable. Her attention to detail and quiet leadership style are integral to her success as a stage manager.
