An Afternoon of Music for Ramona’s Gift of Music
On Sunday, November 3, 2024, 89 North in Patchogue was buzzing with energy as the students of Long Island High School for the Arts brought down the house with an incredible day of live music. Sponsored by Ramona’s Gift to Music, a key supporter of LIHSA’s music program, this event gave talented young musicians the chance to share their passion with the local community—and they did not disappoint.
The afternoon kicked off with a soulful rendition of Ain’t No Sunshine, featuring Lars Sorensen on drums, setting the perfect tone for the day. Guitarists Matt Pagliarulo and Max Einstman, who also swapped between bass, built a rich musical foundation, while Angelina Castro-Boutin’s vocals and keyboard work took center stage. After that smooth intro, they transitioned into You’d Be So Nice to Come Home To, followed by Dreams. The first set ended on an emotional note with Falling Behind, showing off the AM Ensemble’s depth and musicality.
When PM students took the stage, they brought just as much energy and talent. Sam Harold set the pace on drums for On the Sunny Side of the Street, and Willow Landaverde, handling guitar and bass, along with Jake Santos on saxophone, brought layers of richness to the sound. Arvindh Senthilvelan’s keyboard skills were on point, while Charlotte Saxton’s cello and vocals added a beautiful, melodic contrast. The vocalists—Jahi Bradby, Arlo Merchant, Huckleberry Milner, and Isabella Cameron—each brought something special to the mix, especially on songs like God Bless the Child, Don’t Get Around Much Anymore, and I Wish You Love. Milner and Cameron even showed off their guitar chops during the set.
This event was a true celebration of the incredible talent in LIHSA’s music program, and Ramona’s Gift to Music played a huge role in making it all happen. The fundraiser was an inspiring showcase of these young musicians’ ability to captivate and entertain—and it left everyone in the room excited for what’s next!<
