Celebrating Coding and Innovation: Beta Testing Day at LIHSA
On December 18th, 2024, LIHSA’s Game Design students had the opportunity to showcase their original work and creativity at Beta Testing Day. The event was a celebration highlighting not only their impressive technical skills but also the collaborative spirit and innovative thinking that goes into Computer Game Design.
Parents, friends, and members of the LIHSA community gathered in the classroom to learn about the students’ original games. The event began with an overview of the gaming process and philosophy, followed by an exciting opportunity for guests to play student’s games and provide valuable feedback. Students from other LIHSA programs had tested the games prior to the event, offering early feedback that helped refine the designs.
Mr. Minverva, the Game Design instructor, expressed just how meaningful the event was to him, saying, “It was a top 3 highlight of my teaching career. I loved the interactions!” His enthusiasm, along with that of the students, was evident throughout the day. It was clear that the students had grown not just in their technical ability, but also in their critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. Lessons that will benefit them far beyond the classroom.
Our inaugural Beta Testing Day was a reminder that Game Design students have the talent and drive to turn creative visions into reality.
