Holiday Greetings From LIHSA’s Faculty
LIHSA Performing Arts Teachers were rehearsing to record a polished version of the holiday classic “Winter Wonderland” earlier this week when several had to quarantine at home. This rehearsal recording brings a smile to our faces and we hope you enjoy!
A Holiday Note From LIHSA’s Principal: Dr. Christine Rogutsky
Though winter officially begins with the solstice on Monday, Thursday’s winter storm blanketed Long Island with a beautiful foot of snow. This provided a beautiful backdrop last night as menorahs were fully alight to commemorate the eighth night of Chanukah, newly built snowmen stood in yards, and holiday presents made their way under trees.
And here we are, on the cusp of our winter recess, excited to share our students’ magnificent culminating work on Saturday’s Virtual Winter Festival. This semester certainly hasn’t been without its challenges – masks, daily temperature checks, quarantines, social distance throughout the school. But our students, faculty, staff, artists in residence, and advisors continued to create and express through art.
Thank you for your hard work, your perseverance, your positive energy, your inventiveness, and your creativity. It’s because of each and every one of you that we’re a community.
As we watch LIHSA’s Winter Festival on Saturday night, we will be watching some of the best moments 2020 has to offer. We may not be physically gathered together this year in the Seymour Weiner Theatre, but our LIHSA community will absolutely be gathered together, celebrating our students’ talent and hard work.
I wish each and every one of you a healthy, safe, peaceful and joyous holiday season. And here’s to 2021!
Warmly, Dr. Chris
