In the Classroom: Jay Max
Jay Max, a professional songwriter and recording artist signed with Apple Music, has been working with students in a course called Creativity and Collaboration in Music. LIHSA’s young musicians are taking pre-existing source material that inspires them (such as a photograph, a book, or a film) and collaborating on new songs based on this work.
“I like working with Jay because he knows a lot about the industry, he has really good music taste, and he makes really great connections to television, movies, and books,” says Matthew Scarlata, a music student. “The best part about coming to LIHSA is that you are with people who are in your craft and are experienced in the industry. When professionals come in who are doing this for a career, it really helps me, especially during master classes.”
