In Honor of Jazz Month…
In honor of Jazz Month our American Songbook Ensembles have been working on repertoire by legendary composers of jazz standards, known as the Great American Songbook.
Under the direction of teachers Kimberly Larkin, Jerry Nobile, and our guest artist-in-residence jazz bass specialist Dr. Peter Coco, students are studying songs written by George & Ira Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, Richard Rodgers, Duke Ellington, Lerner & Lowe & Cole Porter.
Check out a short video clip of Brandy Mener and Liam O’Connor rehearsing “Almost Like Being in Love,” a song written by Alan Jay Lerner & Frederick Lowe for the score of their 1947 musical Brigadoon.
