Outstanding Senior: Lorenzo Hilliard

Lorenzo Hilliard, a Senior from Wantagh High School, has been making strides in the Musical Theatre program at LIHSA. Over the past two years, he has shaped his future in each performance, workshop, and audition.

Lorenzo chose LIHSA because he wanted to expand his knowledge of theatre and connect with others who share the same interests. He knew that LIHSA would offer the right environment for professional growth, both as a performer and as an individual. He reflected that his time at LIHSA prepared him for college auditions to some of the country’s most competitive college programs.

One of the highlights of his LIHSA experience was the production of Urinetown, a show he was excited to be a part of. Lorenzo used this opportunity to showcase his comedic skills on stage and collaborate with his fellow students.  Lorenzo shined in the role of Office Lockstock and left audiences laughing.

Lorenzo encourages future LIHSA students to take full advantage of the guidance and performance opportunities offered in the Performing Arts program. He believes that every piece of feedback from LIHSA faculty is an opportunity to improve, and the more you perform, the more you grow as an artist.

He has also found great value in the workshops and guest artists that LIHSA brings in. The verbatim theatre classes, which focus on real-life speech, and the theatre history lessons that connect past and present performances, have both had a strong impact on his approach to acting.

After high school, Lorenzo plans to pursue a BFA in theatre, with the goal of performing professionally, whether on stage or in front of the camera. In ten years, he hopes to be established in the industry, living a fulfilling and successful life.
