Outstanding Senior Olivia Babel
As a student in LIHSA’s 3D Animation program, Olivia Babel, from Locust Valley High School, has fully immersed herself in the world of 3D animation, expanding her skills and knowledge in ways that will shape her future in the creative arts. Olivia has developed a strong interest in animation and the software tools that bring her artistic ideas to life.
From the beginning, Olivia’s journey in animation has been driven by her enthusiasm for the art form. She shares, “I love animation and I want to pursue my interest while also expanding on my knowledge of the software used.” Her commitment and focus have already set the stage for her future, earning her an acceptance to the prestigious Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD).
While at LIHSA, Olivia has gained valuable insight into the animation industry. “There are connections everywhere, and I have so many opportunities to grow and learn,” she says. This perspective has opened new doors for her and given her the confidence to pursue a career in animation.
One of Olivia’s standout projects involves her work in both 2D and 3D animation, where she combines her skills as an artist, illustrator, and painter to create dynamic digital art. Her ability to work in multiple mediums and techniques sets her apart and highlights her commitment to developing her craft. “I am an animator (2D and 3D), a 3D artist, an illustrator, a painter, and I overall have a broad range of skills in the arts,” she explains.
As she looks toward her future in animation, Olivia has clear goals. “I hope to be working for Pixar in the next ten years,” she says. This goal reflects her deep interest in storytelling and character creation, which she is eager to bring to life in the animation industry.
Olivia’s advice for future LIHSA students is straightforward but meaningful: “Stay on top of your work and make friends with your classmates.” She stresses the importance of collaboration and building relationships within the arts community, as these connections can provide valuable learning experiences and open doors for future opportunities.
Arts education has been a key factor in shaping Olivia’s journey, allowing her to develop not only technical skills but also the creativity and critical thinking necessary to succeed in her field.
